Inaugural Meeting of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries was successfully organized in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The Government of Mongolia and the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries with the Office of the High-Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) organized the Inaugural Meeting of the International Think Tank for LLDCs on June 11-12, 2018, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The meeting marked the historic inauguration of the International Think Tank for LLDCs and facilitated information and experience sharing through interactive discussions among government officials of LLDCs such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Laos, Nepal, Paraguay and Zambia, donor countries and international experts from UNDP, UN-OHRLLS, UNESCAP, UNCTAD, WIPO, Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority, European Institute for Asian Studies and representatives of financial institutions and private sector during thematic sessions.

During the meeting, joint press conference was organized and H.E. Ms. Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu, OHRLLS, H.E. Ms. Battsetseg B., Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia and Chair country of the Board of Governors of the ITT for LLDCs, H.E. Mr. Raul Silvero, Ambassador of Paraguay to Mongolia and Chair country of the Group of LLDCs and Mr. Odbayar E., Executive Director of the ITT for LLDCs briefed the media on the inaugural meeting and discussions of thematic sessions on “Foreign direct investment in LLDCs”, “Information and communication technology in LLDCs” and “Transportation Challenges of LLDCs”.

During the thematic session 3 papers of the ITT for LLDCs were introduced to the participants.

On the occasion of the inaugural meeting of the ITT for LLDCs, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was organized to mark the inauguration of the Think Tank on June 12, 2018, UN House in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
