Welcomes Online Internship

Feb 10, 2023 | 12:15 pm

The International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries (ITTLLDC) welcomes Ms. Cora Smith as our newest addition to our online internship program!

We are looking forward to her input and contribution to our organization. Cora Smith is a recent graduate from Kent State University with a bachelor’s in International Relations with a minor in Political Science along with a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate and an Associate of Art. She is currently working as an ESOL teacher with Project Learn, but she will be serving with the Peace Corps in June of 2023 in her country of choice, Mongolia.

She will be teaching English and working on community development projects for the twenty-seven months she will be there. Afterwards, Ms. Smith plans on getting a Ph.D. in Asian Studies with her goal being to become a research scholar. She strongly believes that with more academic research the world will be a better place as she feels that people will be able to understand and know more about each other. In her previous experiences, she has interned for the American Center for Mongolian Studies in 2021, Friends of Mongolia, and the Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies.

She is interested in the ITTLLDC because of its focus on landlocked developing countries such as Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Nepal. Interning at the think tank, she plans to work on a research project on Internally Displaced People and Refugees as the area where she lives in has a large, growing population of refugees from countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan. She feels that being able to work with our organization would also help her be able to support the international communities in her area.
