ITTLLDC recently participated in the informal group meeting of landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) held at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, on May 7, 2024.
During the meeting, ITTLLDC had the opportunity to engage with ambassadors and permanent representatives from LLDCs, shedding light on its pivotal role and ongoing efforts to bolster the aviation sector within these nations. This engagement marks a continuation of ITTLLDC’s commitment to supporting advocacy and research initiatives aimed at enhancing the aviation sector of LLDCs. Back in 2022, ITTLLDC voiced its support for collaborative projects with ICAO in this regard, garnering warm appreciation from the LLDC informal group at ICAO.

Looking ahead, the upcoming decade’s Programme of Action for LLDCs, slated for approval by the Group of LLDCs at the 3rd UN Conference on LLDCs in 2024, underscores the critical importance of the aviation sector. Action plans aimed at its development have prioritized the aviation sector as a key component in fostering connectivity among LLDCs through efficient transportation means.
