Mr. Dulguun Damdin-Od, Executive Director of ITTLLDC virtually participated in the ITU Regional Development Forum for Asia-Pacific (RDF-ASP) with the theme of “Digital transformation and innovation for a sustainable and equitable digital future: Supporting the SDGs” upon the organizer’s invitation and addressed its Session 5: Regional Initiatives ASP 1: Partner2Connect Matchmaking Roundtable on 14 September 2023.

During his address, Mr. Damdin-Od emphasized critical considerations for analyzing current situation and advancing digital development in landlocked developing countries (LLDCs). He highlighted the need for targeted support, including policy updates, technological innovation, and the financing of ICT infrastructure within LLDCs. He stressed the importance of fostering an enabling environment conducive to ICT development. This includes reducing barriers to foreign direct investment, implementing robust sector regulation, nurturing competitive markets, and attracting much-needed investments.

Furthermore, Mr. Damdin-Od cited the significant outcomes of the Landlocked Developing Country Business Talks, which jointly organized by ITC and ITTLDC on 26 June 2023, as part of the World Export Development Forum in Ulaanbaatar. During these talks, businesses and private sector representatives from LLDCs expressed their strong commitment to not only recovering from the pandemic but also to successfully achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets set out in the Vienna Programme of Action (VPoA). Their dedication underscores the vital role of private sector engagement in LLDC development efforts.
