ITT strengthening its institutional capacity

The ITT welcomes Dr. Gunter Fischer, former Chief of the Landlocked Developing Countries Section of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland. During his career with UNCTAD, Mr. Fischer gained close familiarity with the specific development challenges faced by LLDCs. He was part of the team that initiated the 2003 LLDCs Conference leading to the Almaty Programme of Action for LLDCs and he contributed substantively to the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in Vienna in 2014. Prior to his recent departure from UNCTAD, he headed a team that prepared investment guides for several LLDCs in Africa and Asia. Mr. Fischer, in his capacity as Technical Adviser, will assist the ITT in its research and analytical work, contribute to the preparation of a framework document for the operation of the ITT and share his professional experiences with ITT staff.
